Fall is officially in the air – it’s practically almost winter! My sweaters are out of storage as well as my boots and jackets. Along with changing leaves, fashion, and home decor there are changes in our beauty routine that come along with the autumn months. Since many asked to share my updated fall makeup routine on my Instagram, I decided to make a more detailed post. Not only the color of the leaves are changing this season, but also your skin tone. Here are some of my top tips for a fall makeup refresh to keep you looking pretty all season long!
Fall Makeup Refresh: 4 Makeup Swaps for Colder Months
1. Amp up your skincare routine
In the summer months, we get lots of vitamin E, sunshine and fresh air, but as the air cools, we face the dilemma of not getting enough moisture and skin essentials. There are plenty of products out there that can help your skin’s needs. I like to use a deep moisturizer that keeps my skin from getting dry and flaky. In addition, I use a brightening mask twice a week to give me that glow I don’t get in the colder season.
2. It’s time to blush!
Fall is also a great time to go with deep, darker blush. I swap my pink blushes for more purple and deep rose colors. I am loving the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush in “Euphoric fusion”. I also use the Bobbi Brown blush in “coral”, this deep coral blush is packed with shimmer and is perfect for a sultry fall makeup look. A more affordable version is the h&m blush.
3. Play with colors
With the heat of the summer months behind us, it is safe to bring back a more intense, makeup-heavy look without fear of it melting off during the day. I like to use darker shades for my eyes and play around with my eyeshadow. Shimmer, Cream, and Glitter are popular for this season. Palettes I recently use often are Marc Jacobs Glambition and Urban Decay Naked Heat Palette. A more affordable version is the Natural palette from Profusion available at Target.com
3. It’s all about the lipstick!
In the summer months, i use mainly soft rose and nude lipstick. But come fall, I am all about the bold lip. My favorites are Charlotte Tilbury in “Liv it up” and Stila Liquid lipstick in ‘Patina”. A more affordable version and one of my most used lipstick is the liquid lipstick from the Sephora collection (only14$) Nothing says more fall beauty than a statement lip.
