It has been sooooo crazy here on the east coast, like beyond. I am sure that you heard about that crazy snow storm that we were having and my life literally was on stand still. Forget about outfit posts or anything the like, so i decided to post some tips on HOW to dress a certain style. And my favorite style item is the MIDI skirt.
What is it?
The “midi” is a three quarter length skirt, falling halfway between your knee and ankle. It can take a variety of shapes – pencil, A-line, or circular, etc – the key point is the length.
A skirt can pose a handful of problems for women, leading to inner battles that have them questioning whether their legs are slim enough to pull off a mini or long enough to look good in a maxi. But thanks to recent fashion shows that have revived the trends of past decades, the midi skirt is no longer a thing of the past and is now sweeping the world, one wardrobe at a time.
The timeless relic was reincarnated back in Spring 2015, when Jill Stuart and Donna Karan reminded us how versatile the tea-length skirt in terms of the fit and ensemble choices, giving way for girls of all shapes and sizes with differing styles to incorporate the midi into their closet. And unlike the mini and the maxi, the midi can looks amazing with a variety of shoes, from statement high heels to embellished sandals and everything in between, as long as the clothes and accessories have been styled correctly.
But if you’re still having trouble deciding which of your footwear pairs best with this wardrobe staple, here are a few ideas to inspire you:
Lace Up Heels
Ankle lace ups tend to have a bad rep in the fashion community, with people claiming that they make their legs look chunky. Although that is subject for debate, the mid length skirt is a perfect match for chunky lace up heels , as the pairing will create the illusion of longer legs. Lace-up Heels in particular works best since it will continue the long, lean line of the skirt.
A Cute Pair of Pumps
Whether you’re wearing a pleated skirt with a crisp white button up or a floral skirt with a creamy colored top, you can never go wrong with a chic pair of pumps to complete the whole look, as they add a nice feminine touch to your outfit.
Block Heel Sandals
It should be pretty clear to you by now that heels are your best option for footwear. Block heel sandals can really work toward your advantage since the minimal detailing on the front of the shoe will give the extra height you’re looking for in a midi. Gucci really implemented that shoe all over their 2016 collection.
